African National Congress MP Mr Willie Hofmeyr has been appointed Parliamentary Advisor to Deputy President Thabo Mbeki.
Mr Hofmeyr, whose appointment is effective immediately, replaces Ms Mavivi Myakayaka-Manzini as Parliamentary Advisor. He has been an active member of the Justice Portfolio Committee in the National Assembly. He also serves on the Constitutional Commission of the ANC and was part of the ANC's negotiating team during the writing of the new Constitution.
In addition to the above, the Deputy President's Political Advisor Mr Vusi Mavimbela has now been appointed Advisor on Security and Intelligence matters.
The new Political Advisor to Deputy President Mbeki is Mr Titus Mafolo. Mr Mafolo was previously ANC MP and the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Housing.
