NATIONAL YOUTH INFORMATION SERVICE LAUNCH

Issued by: Government Communications (GCIS)

"Access to information is a key component in addressing the needs of young women and men and their communities" Section 8.5.1. National Youth Policy

As part of the National Youth Commission's pre-announced commitments to Youth Day 1998, the pilot run of the NYC's National Youth Information Services Project - incorporating a national toll-free Youth-Line and an online information service for youth - will be launched by Deputy Minister Essop Pahad at a function at the offices of Intekom, Midrand at 10.30am on Monday 15 June 1998.

Since the site-visit to the actual call centre (following the launch ceremony) can only accommodate 10 people, please confirm the names of attending journalists and cameramen as soon as possible for accreditation.

The Youth-Line number and web-site address will be released for the first time at the function.

To confirm names of attending journalists, please contact Lindie on Cell 083 626 3770.
