On the eve of the start of the World Cup soccer tournament, the Gauteng Legislature unanimously adopted a motion wishing South Africa's "Bafana Bafana" every success in bringing the trophy back to the country.
Proposed by the National Party and seconded by the African National Congress, the motion noted that it was the first time South Africa will make an appearance in the prestigious tournament in France next week.
"This House resolves to wish the Bafana Bafana team every success to bring the World Cup trophy to South Africa. "(We) also call on all South Africans to rally behind our national team," the motion concluded.
