MEDIA STATEMENT ON OFFICIAL VISIT OF MRS Z KRAMPLOVA, FOREIGN MINISTER OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC TO SOUTH AFRICA FROM 28-30 MAY 1998
The Foreign Minister of the Slovak Republic, Mrs Zdenka Kramplova, accompanied by a delegation of senior officials from the Slovak Foreign Ministry will be visiting South Africa from 28-30 May 1998, at the invitation of Foreign Minister Alfred Nzo.
South Africa and the Slovak Republic maintain excellent bilateral relations with trade and investment ties between the two countries having increased significantly since the Slovak Republic became independent on 1 January 1993. Ways of further developing trade relations between the two countries will be one of the topics of discussion. In this regard an agreement on the "Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evation with respect to Taxes on Income" will be signed by Foreign Minister's Nzo and Kramplova. The two Ministers will also sign an agreement on "Cooperation in the fields of Arts and Culture".
The signing of the agreements will take place after a meeting between Foreign Minister's Nzo and Kramplova on 28 May 1998 in Cape Town. The media are invited to attend the signing ceremony and subsequent media conference at 11h45 in Room 1720, 120 Plein Street. Minister Kramplova will also meet with Mr Alec Erwin, Minister of Trade and Industry and Mr Derek Hanekom, Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs. Mrs Kramplova will also visit Parliament where she will meet with the Deputy Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, Mr Balalane Ngcuka and the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ms Baleka Kgotsitsile.
