STATEMENT BY WELFARE AND POPULATION DEVELOPMENT MINISTER GERALDINE FRASER-MOLEKETI ON THE APPOINTMENT OF KGATI SATHEKGE AS ACTING PRESS SECRETARY IN THE MINISTRY
I wish to express my congratulations to my Press Secretary Brian Sokutu on his appointment as Public Affairs Manager for Shell South Africa from 1 June 1998.
During his stint with Government, Mr Sokutu - a former senior journalist at The Star and deputy news editor at the Sunday Times - has served the Ministry well. In his new role, Mr Sokutu, will - among other tasks - focus on the company's social responsibility programs in Gauteng and other provinces. Partnership between Government and business is crucial in his (social responsibility) area as we reconstruct and develop our country. As the Ministry for Welfare and Population Development, we wish Mr Sokutu well in his new post and we shall miss his input.
As from 26 May 1998, Kgati Sathekge - currently deputy director at the Department of Welfare's Communications Directorate - will serve as acting Press Secretary in the Ministry.
