VISIT BY FOREIGN MINISTER TO COLUMBIA

MEDIA STATEMENT ON VISIT BY FOREIGN MINISTER ALFRED NZO TO CARTAGENA, COLUMBIA.

Foreign Minister Alfred Nzo and a delegation of senior officials left for Cartagena, Columbia on 15 May 1998 to attend a Ministerial meeting of the Co-ordinating Bureau of NAM. The meeting hosted by Columbia is to be held from 17-20 May 1998.

The object of the meeting is the finalise a communique which contains issues of substance with a view of providing guidance for the proceedings of the 12th NAN Summit, which will be held in Durban from 29 August - 3 September 1998.

The Cartagena gathering will provide an opportunity for consultations between Ministers and senior officials of the outgoing and incoming Chairs of the Movement.

The meeting will also provide the occasion to view logistical arrangements at first hand prior to the Durban Summit.
