SOUTH AFRICA REITERATES DEEP CONCERN AT SUBSEQUENT INDIAN NUCLEAR TESTS
The South African Government is deeply concerned at the further two nuclear tests conducted by India on 13 May 1998 and regrets this development.
As a matter of principle South Africa opposes all nuclear tests since they do not contribute to promoting world peace and security.
South Africa believes that security is provided by nuclear disarmament rather than by nuclear proliferation.
South Africa repeats the hope that these tests do not result in an arms race in South Asia.
