INVITATION TO A WORKERS' DAY SEMINAR: 30 APRIL 1998
Pretoria - In recognition of Workers' Day (1 May), the HIV/AIDS and STD Programme of the Department of Health, the Department of Labour, UNAIDS and the AIDS Law Project are co-hosting a seminar which is aimed at highlighting the importance of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Code on HIV/AIDS and Employment which was adopted by all member countries in May 1997. The Code on HIV/AIDS and Employment is based on the fundamental principles of human rights and a humane and compassionate attitude to people infected and affected.
The key note address will be by Mr Jackson Nkurlu from the International Labour Organisation, Harare, Zimbabwe.
Current legal and implementation issues relating to HIV/AIDS and the workplace will be addressed by a panel of experts.
You are cordially invited to attend the seminar. A press conference will follow the proceedings and a press package will be provided at the venue.
