AEROSPACE AFRICA '98 - THE PERFECT PLATFORM FOR MAJOR AVIATION PLAYERS

Aerospatiale, Airbus Industrie, Boeing, British Aerospace, Dassault, Daimler-Benz Aerospace, Eurocopter and Lockhead Martin are amongst a host of major international companies whilst airports Company, Comair, Denel, National airways Corporation and Reutech are amongst the local giants who are to exhibit products at Africa's largest aerospace exhibition, Aerospace Africa '98.

The attendance of these key aviation players is testament to the power of both the country and Aerospace Africa '98 in drawing organisations of steadfast repute. Country Pavilions from France, Italy, Russia, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the USA have elected to attend, and a total of 150 organisations from 21 different countries will be present. At time of going to press these include australia, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Opportunities for trade at Aerospace Africa are extensive in light of the necessary overhaul of Africa's aviation safety equipment. The chance to demonstrate the merits of suitable products is one that many international companies cannot afford to miss.

The world's largest helicopter manufacturer Eurocopter will showcase several aircraft. The EC120 Colibri, the SA365N Dauphin and the BO105 Super Five are among them. Visitors will also be able to see a full scale mock-up of the new EC635, which is to make its debut at the airshow.

Aviation giants Boeing are expected to be talking to SAA in the hope of resuscitating the stalled B777 order and is sure to be promoting its more recently launched 100 seat B717. Competitor, Airbus Industrie is also expected to promote and showcase the recently launched A340-500 and 600 series of airliners.

Although many exhibitors have continued to keep news of their displays hidden, it is known that The Gulfstream 1, will be among the numerous Norse Air exhibits. Comair, the Cessna distributors will display a vast array of aircraft. The Cessna 182 Skyplane, the CitationJet, the 172 Skyhawk and the citation Ultra are among them. the bombardier Group are also to exhibit a selection of aircraft which include the Challenger 604 and the Learjet 45.

Aerospace Africa '98 will demonstrate through the caliber of its exhibitors and the visiting trade delegations from Angola, Canada, France, Italy, Ivory Coast, Mauritius, Pakistan, Russia, Seychelles, United Kingdom and Zambia - its strength as an internationally recognised exhibition on a global scale.

In addition to the vast array of aerospace products, flying displays will continue throughout the exhibition as a means of demonstrating to potential buyers whilst exciting the huge amount of expected visitors on the public days.

In contribution to the Year of Science and Technology, Aerospace Africa '98 has announced that the entrance to view the flying displays on the public days are free of charge.

The show will run from 28 April - 2 May 1998, 28-30 April for trade, 1-2 May for public. The exhibition will open at 10am and close 6pm on trade days, and open at 10am to close at 5pm on public days. The venue is Air force Base, Waterkloof. No children under 16 will be allowed entrance on trade days, on public days children under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
