GAUTENG AWARDS TWO GAMBLING LICENCES

On 25 February 1998, the Gauteng Gambling and Betting Board and the Gauteng Provincial Executive Council (Cabinet) announced that concurrence has been reached for the award of casino licences to the following casino applicants: Tsogo Sun Holdings (Pty) Ltd - Fourways Global Resorts (Pty) Ltd Afrisun Gauteng (Pty) Ltd Emfuleni Safari Resorts/Tortello Investments No. 15 (Pty) Ltd.

On the same date, the announcement indicated that both the Board and the Executive Council have reached concurrence that six licences should be issued in the Province, but concurrence had not yet been reached on the two outstanding licences.

After deliberations, the Board and the Executive Council have now reached concurrence that casino licences should be awarded to the following applicants. Akani Egoli (Pty) Ltd Rhino Hotel and Resort (Pty) Ltd

The Board has prepared and submitted a full report to the Executive Council on the evaluation of, reasons for and the award of the casino licences.

This report will be made available to interested parties after the Board has consulted with all the casino applicants. This is to ensure that confidential and business sensitive information about the applicants contained in the report is not unduly and improperly disclosed to third parties without the consent of the applicants. The meeting with the applicants is scheduled to take place after this press conference.

Both the Board and the Executive Council record their appreciation for the help and assistance which all the applicants gave to them in achieving on this complex task. Additionally, the Board and the Executive Council would like to thank third parties who made representations to the Board regarding all casino applications, to the media and to the public in general.
