RE: PUBLIC PROTECTOR'S INQUIRY INTO ALLEGED IRREGULARITIES WITH REGARD TO THE AFFAIRS AND FINANCIAL STATEMENTS OF THE STRATEGIC FUEL FIND ASSOCIATION (SFF) AND THE CORRECTNESS OF THE REPORTS OF THE AUDITOR-GENERAL WITH REGARD THERETO
The investigation of the above matter is to commence again on 20 April 1998, after it had previously been postponed at the request of legal representatives of the parties involved.
The Public Protector received a request from Parliament on 22 August 1997 to investigate the above-mentioned matter and to report to the National Assembly thereon.
The request has arisen as a result of certain statements made by the Minister of Minerals and Energy, during an interpolation in the National Assembly on 18 June 1997, pertaining to the affairs and the financial statements of the said SFF Association and the report of the Auditor-General.
The formal investigation will be open to the public. It will be held in Conference Room No 3 situated at the Sinodale Conference Centre, 234 Visagie Street, Pretoria
