Media reports that the Director General of Gauteng, Mr Vincent Mntambo, has resigned following allegations of irregularities in the Gauteng Legislature are untrue.
Mr Mntambo has never been and is not an employee of the Gauteng Legislature.
He is the Director General in the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG), which is separate from the Gauteng Legislature. The Legislature has oversight functions over the GPG, while the GPG is not the provincial law-making institution.
Mr Mntambo's alleged resignation would be from the Gauteng Provincial Government, his employer, and not the Legislature, which does not employ him.
The media is urged to respect the separation of powers of between the Gauteng Legislature and the GPG.
