Invitation COME ON BOARD

The Minister of Transport Mac Maharaj will formally inaugurate the South African Maritime Safety Authority in its new offices in Pretoria on Tuesday 7 April 1998.

SAMSA will be South Africa's independent statutory maritime safety authority, accountable to the Minister of Transport. It will promote South Africa's maritime interests and exercise control over shipping to ensure safe and clean seas.

You will be able to meet SAMSA's new CEO, Captain Brian Watt, as well as the chairperson of the board, Professor Hilton Staniland, and his deputy, Ms Nonkululeko Gobodo.

This opens a new chapter for both the Department of Transport and the maritime transport sector in this country, and the Minister of Transport invites you to be there.
