The President has in terms of Section 84(2)(f) of the Constitution appointed a Commission of Inquiry into a report which he received from the SANDF on "Organised activities with the aim of overthrow the government".
The Commission has been asked to report urgently to the President on the process relating to the compilation, verification and subsequent treatment of the report.
The Commission will be chaired by Chief Justice Ismail Mohamed. Its two additional members are the Deputy President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Plus Langa, and Justice Richard Goldstone, a member of the Constitutional Court.
