MEDIA STATEMENT ON THE OFFICIAL VISIT OF MINISTER ALFRED NZO TO KENYA : 29-31 MARCH 1998
The Department of Foreign Affairs is pleased to announce that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr A B Nzo, will be undertaking an official visit to Kenya from 29 - 31 March 1998. The visit, at the invitation of the Kenyan Government, is taking place against the background of the expanded relations on all levels which have been developing between the two countries over recent times. Minister Nzo will be accompanied by Foreign Affairs Deputy Director-General: Africa, Mr A L Mongalo.
Bilateral discussions between Minister Nzo and the Kenyan authorities will cover a wide range of issues, including closer economic ties and cooperation between the two countries. Kenya is currently South Africa's largest trading partner on the continent outside the SADC region, with South African exports to this East African state currently reaching the R1 billion mark.
The Foreign Minister will also avail himself of this opportunity to discuss the concept of an African rebirth and cooperation between the two countries in the furtherance of this great endeavour to bring good governance, the fostering of democracy and human rights and economic upliftment to all Africans.
