DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH HOLDS TWO DAY CONFERENCE ON DISTRICT HEALTH SYSTEM 26 - 27 MARCH 1998

Pretoria - The Department of Health is to hold a two-day conference in Durban this week (March 26 - 27) to focus on the District Health System, which lies at the core of its mandate to deliver health care services to all in the country.

International guests from Phillippines, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana will attend the conference. The conference is the first ever national conference with the following participants; national and provincial department of health, local government training institution, researches and NGOs.

The conference will hear about international experiences, share local South African lessons and map the process and issues of District Health Systems implementation.

The conference will be held at Ocean Centre, 121 Lower Marine Parade Street, Durban. The keynote address will be delivered by the head of KwaZulu-Natal Health Department at 09:15 on March 26, 1998.
