The Department of Labour has awarded the Western Cape Training Centre with 2,9 million rands to be used for training of 780 artisans in mechanical welding, pipe setting instrumentation, electrical and mechanical fitting. The project which started on Monday, 23 February 1998 forms part of the Spatial Development Initiative (SDI) which is led by the Department of Trade and Industry.
After completion of the course, applicants will be placed in various jobs at Saldanha Steel Projects.
