Minister Nzo leads South African delegation to OAU Council of Ministers meeting in Addis Ababa
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Alfred Nzo, will leave for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, tomorrow to attend the biannual meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) from 26 to 27 February 1998. The Minister will present South Africa's views on issues ranging from the financial management of the OAU to the establishment of an African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights.
Although the February Council of Ministers meeting normally devotes most of its time to budgetary and administrative matters, the latest developments in Burundi, Comoros, Sierra Leone, Somalia and Angola will also be discussed. Two other important topics are the various initiatives to build African capacity for peace missions and African implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of Anti-personnel Landmines and Assistance to Mine Victims.
