FORTNIGHTLY CABINET MEETING HELD

CABINET MEETING: WEDNESDAY 18 FEBRUARY 1998

The Cabinet held its scheduled fortnighly meeting in Tuynhuys this morning. The Cabinet mainly dealt with reports from its three Committees.

The Cabinet approved the Conversion of the South African Special Risks Association Bill for submission to Parliament and considered and approved the Draft White Paper on National Policy on Airports and Airspace Management. A progress report on the Msakhane Campaign and Programme of Action for 1998 was also approved.

The Cabinet, joined by Deputy Ministers, discussed a Government plan aimed at preventing HIV/AIDS in South Africa and adopted certain procedures to advance this plan.
