MEDIA STATEMENT ON REPATRIATION OF AIRCRASH VICTIMS TO SOUTH AFRICA

Following the South African High Commission's media statement of 15 February 1998, it can now be confirmed taht the postmortems on the nine bodies of the South African citizens who have died in the plane crash on 13 February 1998, have been concluded.

Final authorisation and arrangements for the bodies of the deceased to be repatriated have been completed. The remains of the nine deceased will be repatriated to South Africa on Wednesday, 18 February 1998.

THe Kenyan Directorate for Civil Aviation is continuing with an official investigation into the accident.

The High Commissioner, Mr Mandla Memela, wishes to express his gratitude to all those who have made valuable contributions towards the smooth finalisation of arrangements with regard to the accident.
