DR N C ZUMA TO ADDRESS TOBACCO CONFERENCE

Health Minister, Dr Nkosazana Zuma, will on Wednesday, 18 February 1998 deliver an opening address at the International Conference on The Economics of Tobacco Control, at the Arthur's Seat Hotel, Sea Point (Cape Town) at 09:00.

The three-day conference which will be attended by delegates from over twenty-five countries including World Bank and WHO officials, will be an extension of the international conference on Tobacco and Health which was held in Beijing in August last year.

The conference will be a platform -

• to share research findings with other researchers world-wide in the field of the economics of tobacco control and to share their international experiences;
• to invite an open debate with researchers from the tobacco industry, and
• to generate policy proposals for South Africa and other countries on issues of tobacco control.
