VISIT BY THE GREEK DEPUTY MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

MEDIA STATEMENT ON THE WORKING VISIT BY THE GREEK DEPUTY MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, MR YANNOS KRANIDIOTIS, TO SOUTH AFRICA ON 2 FEBRUARY 1998

The Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Yannos Kranidiotis, will be arriving in South Africa as special envoy of both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece for a working visit on 2 February 1998. His visit will form part of a tour of African countries including inter alia Tanzania, Mozambique, Namibia and Angola.

During his visit Deputy Minister Kranidiotis will meet with Deputy Minister Aziz Pahad. Bilateral discussions will focus on matters of mutual interest both bilaterally and multilaterally. With regard to the latter, the reform of the United Nations, as well as the UN Security Council will also be discussed. This visit will serve to enhance the already strong relations between South Africa and Greece.
