DEPUTY PRESIDENT THABO MBEKI TO ATTEND ANNUAL MEETING OF THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM IN DAVOS, SWITZERLAND

Deputy President Thabo Mbeki will depart for Davos, Switzerland tomorrow 29 January 1998 to attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The World Economic Forum's annual meeting consists of an informal gathering of world economic leaders and designed to establish the key geopolitical and economic priorities for 1998.

The Theme for the 1998 WEF annual meeting is establishing priorities for the 21st century.

While in Davos, Deputy President Mbeki will address the following working sessions:

He will also deliver the keynote address at a meeting hosted by the Club of Media Leaders and engage in bi-lateral discussions with various business and political leaders.

The Club of Media leaders consist of prominent publishers and editors representing international media groups and publications.

Deputy President Mbeki is expected to return to South Africa on Tuesday, 3 February 1998.
