MEDIA PROCEDURES AT INAUGURATION MONDAY 19 JANUARY

MEDIA ADVISORY

The inauguration ceremony tomorrow, Monday 19 January 1998, is divided into two parts.

A: LEGISLATURE:

The session at the Legislature where the new Premier will be nominated will start at 10h00 and end at 10h30. Journalists wishing to cover that part of the session, should follow the normal procedures observed during sittings.

Journalists should be seated in the Media Gallery by 09h50.

B: LIBRARY GARDENS:

RADIO AND PRINT:

Journalists should ensure that their mikes are on the podium by 10h55. No journalist will be allowed to put up a microphone after the proceedings had started.

Radio journalists will be seated at the top end of the media enclosure followed by print and TV journalists.

PHOTOGRAPHERS and CAMERA CREWS:

The procession will leave the Legislature at 10h30. Only photographers and camera crew will be allowed in front of the procession.

When the proceedings start no crews will be allowed outside the enclosure. It is therefore important for crews to pick their spots by 08h30.

There will be a photo-session on the steps at 12h30: The judge, the new Premier, outgoing Premier, the Speaker and his deputy.

No photographs during lunch.

PRESS CONFERENCE:

There will be a Press Conference at 14h00 at the Legislature. Journalists should have set up by 13h45.
