INTERNATIONAL SUMMIT FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS)

Pretoria - A unique international summit which aims to utilise worldwide experience to develop systems which will assist developing countries, as well as those with already established systems, appropriate Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to help determined, got under way in Cape Town over the weekend.

The summit, the first of its kind, saw thirty-one delegates from 11 countries descending on Cape Town for the six days' workshop, which ends on Friday. The theme of the summit is "The Future" worldwide development, Emergency Medical Services.

Topics for discussion will include Clinical care, Training and Education, Organisational Models, Delivery Systems, Audit, funding and Research and Development.

The National Department of Health is fully supportive of the summit given its commitment to the upliftment of Emergency Medical Services in South Africa, and is proud that the country has been selected to host the first ever-global summit on EMS.

In addition to this, the summit is officially endorsed by the Trauma Society of South Africa.
