MEDIA STATEMENT ON THE OFFICIAL VISIT BY THE ITALIAN MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, MR LAMBERTO DINI, TO SOUTH AFRICA FROM 15 - 17 JANUARY 1998
The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Lamberto Dini, will pay an official visit to South Africa from 15 to 17 January 1998 at the invitation of Minister Alfred Nzo.
During his visit Minister Dini will meet with among others Deputy President Thabo Mbeki, Dr Frene Ginwala, Minister Nzo, Minister Erwin, Minister Mtshali, Minister Mufamadi, Minister Buthelezi, Deputy Minister Kasrils and Deputy Minister Pahad.
An Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation, as well as an Agreement Regulating Technical Assistance, will be signed by Minister Dini and his South African counterparts during the forthcoming visit.
While in South Africa, Mr Dini will hold discussions with Minister Nzo on a broad range of issues, including the state of bilateral relations and matters pertaining to the region and Africa, as well as multilateral issues of common interest.
Minister Dini will be accompanied by his wife and will visit Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The media is invited to attend the signing of the two agreements and press briefing, which will be held at the Diplomatic Guest House, 201 Matroosberg Road, Waterkloof Heights, Pretoria at 13h00 on Thursday, 15 January 1998.
