MEDIA STATEMENT ON THE OFFICIAL VISIT OF RUSSIAN DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER, MR V POSUVALYUK, TO SOUTH AFRICA FROM 10 - 12 JANUARY 1997.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Viktor Posuvalyuk, will visit South Africa at the invitation of Deputy Foreign Minister Aziz Pahad from 10 to 12 January 1998.
While in South Africa, Mr Posuvalyuk will hold discussions with Deputy Minister Pahad on a broad range of issues, including the state of bilateral relations and matters pertaining to the region and Africa, as will as multilateral issues.
A key issue for discussion during the three-day visit will be the forthcoming Summit between President Nelson Mandela and Russian President Boris Yeltsin in Moscow.
The media is invited to attend the press briefing, which will be held at the Diplomatic Guest House, 201 Matroosberg Road, Waterkloof Heights, Pretoria at 12h30 on Monday, 12 January 1998.
