VISIT TO SOUTH AFRICA BY US SECRETARY OF STATE ALBRIGHT

1. ARRIVAL OF SECRETARY OF STATE ALBRIGHT ON FRIDAY 12 DECEMBER 1997, AT JOHANNESBURG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. PHOTO OPPORTUNITY ONLY.

All journalists covering this event are required to use gate no 2 at the airport and are urged to arrive at 20:50 at the latest. Valid Press cards essential. For clearance to access the tarmac, media are advised to contact Ms Rita Nel of the airports Company on Tel:011-9216353 or Fax:011-3902103.

2. MEETING WITH DEPUTY PRESIDENT MBEKI, OLIVER TAMBO HOUSE, PRETORIA, SATURDAY 13 DECEMBER 1997. PHOTO OPPORTUNITY AT THE START OF MEETING.

All journalists covering the photo opportunity at 09:00 between Deputy President Mbeki and Secretary of State Albright at Oliver Tambo House (OTH) are requested to use the OTH entrance in Dumbarton Avenue, off Church Street, Pretoria. To allow for security checks photographers are urged to arrive at 08:15 at the latest. Valid Press cards essential.

Kindly note that a pool will be put together for a camera spray at the start of the bilateral meeting inside OTH shortly after 09:00.

Please be advised that those covering this event will be obliged to remain on the premises until the conclusion of the media conference (see item 3 below).

4. MEETING WITH PRESIDENT MANDELA AT MAHLAMBA NDLOPFU, PRETORIA, SATURDAY 13 DECEMBER 1997, FOLLOWED BY PHOTO OPPORTUNITY ONLY.

All journalists covering this event are requested to use gate no 1, Government Avenue (left into Dunbarton Street from Church Street, then right into Government Avenue), Pretoria. Journalists covering the OTH media conference who are interested in covering this event are urged to move immediately to the President's Residence. To allow for security checks, journalists are urged to arrive at 10:30 at the very latest. Valid Press cards essential.

5. MEETING WITH ARCHBISHOP TUTU AT THE VIP LOUNGE, JOHANNESBURG AIRPORT, SATURDAY 13 DECEMBER 1997, FOLLOWED BY PHOTO OPPORTUNITY ONLY.

A pool will be constituted to cover this event. Photographers covering this event are requested to use the VIP Lounge in the international arrivals hall of Johannesburg International Airport.
