MEDIA RELEASE BY THE MINISTER FOR SAFETY AND SECURITY, MR F.S. MUFAMADI
TWO MEN ACCUSED OF BANK ROBBERY IN KWAZULU-NATAL, PINETOWN WALKED FREE
The Minister has expressed his shock and dismay on the acquittal of two accused in the trial relating to the R31 million SBV heist.
He has requested that the National Commissioner, George Fivaz, provide him with a report indicating where the police had fallen short in their investigation and what corrective steps are taken to readdress areas of weaknesses.
He has also reiterated the need for police members to step up and ensure that police training is geared to sensitize members to the demands required by the Constitution and the Bill of rights. It is only when police adhere to proper procedures during investigation that such miscarrings of justice will be avoided.
