The South African Government is concerned about the events in Taipei where the house of the Military Attache was occupied by a Chinese Assailant. The Military Attache and his family were held hostage. We realise that the Government of the Republic of China is doing its utmost to resolve the matter. We hope the situation can be resolved speedily without loss of life. The South African Government is in constant contact through diplomatic channels with both the ROC authorities and the South African Embassy in Taipei. Further details will be made available as soon as they can be confirmed. We would like to express our good wishes and a speedy recovery to those injured.
