09:00 Welcome and opening address by Mr Lionel Mtshali, Minister of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology.
09:30 Keynote address: "The social and economic importance of local content in the context of a developing country" by Ms Esther Figueroa, Television Producer from Hawai.

10:30 Session 1: Overview: "International Trends" and "The South African situation".

13:00 Session 2: What are the local content responsibilities of the broadcaster - private and public?

15:45 Session 3: What are the objectives of developing local content? Is South African broadcasting over or under regulated? What is the role of the regulator in developing the various local programming categories and genres of music, as well as the various languages?
17:30 Cocktail party hosted by Ms Brigitte Mabandla, Deputy Minister of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology and East Coast Radio and Durban Video Vision.

Conference proceedings
All proceedings of the conference are open to the media. The conference will take place in Plenary 1A. Conference papers will be made available to all media. Some of the papers are available from Deon an Tonder at (012) 314 6122, while the rest will be available during and after the conference.
Media facilities
A media centre with facilities will be available in Hosp. Suite 23 AB in the International Convention Centre. The media area will be equipped with workspace, a documentation desk, power points for laptops and an interview room. During the conference speakers and officials from DACST will be available for interviews with media representatives. These interviews should be arranged with either Andile Xaba or Mack Lewele.
Finger lunches and tea breaks will be provided to working media in Plenary 1B.
General services: -
General parking facilities are available underneath the International Convention Centre at a charge of R8 per day. A multiple entry card is also available at R10 per day. A R50 refundable deposit has to be paid for this facility - refundable on return of card.
