At a meeting held on 6, 7 and 8 October 1997 the Judicial Service Commission interviewed candidates for appointment as Judges to the Supreme Court of Appeal, Constitutional Court, Cape, Natal and Transvaal Provincial Divisions and Ciskei Division of the High Court.
The Commission resolved to recommend the appointment of the following persons:
1. Supreme Court of Appeal

The Commission resolved to submit to the President the names of the following persons for consideration for appointment to the vacancy in this Court:
