The Department of Provincial Affairs and Constitutional Development will have an exhibition outside Old Assembly Chamber tomorrow as part of the National Masakhane Focus Week. Minister Mohammed Valli Moosa, Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Frene Ginwala, and Chief Whips of political parties are scheduled to pose for a photo shoot at 14h45 where the exhibition will be held. Members of the National Assembly will sign the pledge forms during the course of the exhibition.
The objectives of the Masakhane Campaign are to accelerate the delivery of services and housing, and promote payment of services; promote local economic development and enhance the capacity of local government; and encourage investment in infrastructure and stimulate economic development in both urban and rural areas.
The campaign is also aimed to promote participation of all stakeholders in building the country; maximise community participation and responsibility; educate citizens about their rights and responsibilities; and promote unity, nation - building and a democratic culture. The Department of Constitutional Development will show a video about community participation at the exhibition. Posters, banners and photographs will also be displayed.
Members of the media will sign the pledge forms at the foyer of the Old Assembly Chamber at 14h00. The forms will be endorsed in a table which will be manned by officials from the Public Relations Section of Parliament.
