NATIONAL SADC DAY TO BE HELD AT LATER DATE

Issued by: SA Communication Service

National SADC Day was celebrated in most member countries yesterday, 17 August, 1997. For various reasons, some countries, including South Africa, will hold their celebrations on later dates.

The SADC Summit, which will be attended by Heads of State, will be held this year in Blantyre, Malawi, on 9 September. Senior officials will begin their deliberations at the same venue on 1 September, 1997. The Council of Ministers meeting will be held on 4 and 5 September.
