Management and staff of the Department of Public Works have today taken a joint decision to improve the standard of service regarding the Union Buildings gardens.
In a meeting between management and the employees responsible for the upkeep of the gardens, Mr Sipho Shezi, Director-General of the Department of Public Works, reaffirmed pride in the work done to maintain and improve the gardens to the glorious state of which this prestigious state property is entitled.
Employees have committed themselves to assist management in the transformation process, by offering practical suggestions for improvement and agreed to immediate monitoring and evaluation of attendance and quality of work.
Immediate steps include the implementation of an attendance monitoring system, improved security measures and further investigation into training and aspects of potential commercialisation.
