MOOSA CALL ON THE PEOPLE OF RICHMOND TO BE CALM

Issued by: Ministry for Provincial Affairs and Constitutional Development

STATEMENT BY MR M V MOOSA, MINISTER FOR PROVINCIAL AFFAIRS AND CONSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT ON THE MURDER OF NEWLY-ELECTED ANC COUNCILLORS AND OTHER ANC MEMBERS

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the families of the bereaved, and to also assure them that the entire South African Government shares their pain and loss.

I would also like to condemn this barbaric and criminal act, which is aimed at provoking people and undermining our democratic process.

I am certain that these senseless criminals will not succeed in derailing progress and development in Richmond. I call on the people of Richmond to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands.

I would also like to assure the families of the bereaved and the people of Richmond that the Government and the South African Police Services will leave no stone unturned in tracking down and bringing these criminals to book.
