Journalists planning to cover the Derby-Lewis/Walusz amnesty hearing in Benoni next week will need to send accreditation details to the TRC in advance as a result of the imposition of tight security measures at the venue.
Details of names and media organisations must be sent urgently to Meleney Burts or Sello Rabothata at the TRC's Johannesburg office, fax number 011- 333-0832, phone number 082- 458-8462.
The venue of the hearing will be the Benoni City Hall, Walburn Avenue, Benoni. The hearing begins at 10 am on Monday June 23.
Accreditation tags can be picked up before the hearing begins, upon presentation of satisfactory press identification. Journalists are asked to allow time for security checks of their equipment as they enter the venue.
Broadcast journalists need to arrive early to arrange feeds. The TRC's sound contractors will provide audio and video DAs. Broadcast journalists should bring their own field recorders and audio and video cables.
Photographers who have not covered TRC hearings previously are asked to note that there are tight restrictions on the use of stills cameras.
