MEDIA RELEASE BY THE MINISTER OF MINERALS AND ENERGY: APPOINTMENT OF A NEW CHAIRMAN AND NEW MEMBERS TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CEF (PTY) LTD GROUP OF COMPANIES
Cabinet today granted approval that the Minister of Minerals and Energy, Mr Penuell Maduna, appoint Mr Donald D B Mkhwanazi as new Chairman of the Central Energy Fund (Pty) Ltd Group of Companies, with effect from 1 April 1997. Mr Mkhwanazi replaces Mr Roy Pithey who has requested the Minister and Cabinet to allow him to retire at the end of March 1997.
Minister Maduna also appointed Dr Gordon S Sibiya to replace Mr M Ralekhetho as Departmental representative to the board of directors with immediate effect. Dr Sibiya has recently been appointed the Department of Minerals and Energy's Deputy Director-General responsible for energy matters.
On 1 April 1997 the board will also be joined by Mr Molefe S Phalatse, a director of BMW, who will fill the vacancy due to Mr Mkhwanazi's appointment as chairman.
