RETURNED EXILES ASSOCIATION WILL BE LAUNCHED

A Returned Exiles Association (REA) will be launched at 08:30 on
21 March 1997 at the Central Methodist Church in Johannesburg.
1. WHAT IS REA
An association of people who at one stage of their lives were
forced by the Apartheid regime to persue their political,
educational and economic activities outside the borders of South
Africa.
2. VISION
The association is dedicated to achieve excellence of social and
economic performance amongst those South Africans who have been
disadvantaged by exile.
3. THE AIMS AND ACTIVITIES OF REA
- To unite all former exiles into an association which will
promote common interests and provide mutual support.
- To promote the ideals of social progress and human development
amongst all South Africans.
- To enhance and facilitate the smooth integration of all the
returning exiles into the South African economy.
- To pool educational, material and technical resources of
members to contribute to the advancement and development of the
South African society.
- To provide assistance to the families of the members in times
of need.
- To create as enabling environment for the empowerment of all
those who were disadvantaged by exile.
ACTIVITIES
The association intends to conduct the following activities:
- To provide material assistance through a bereavement support
system.
- To organize meetings, seminars, conferences aimed at
galvanising the exiles of members towards a meaningful contribution
in the South African economy.
- To organize recourses for the general social, economic and
cultural upliftment of the members.
- To promote fraternal ties with peoples and states which played
an important role in advancing the liberation of South Africa.
- To provide an advisory service to the members on employment
generation, education and training, investment and economic
development.
- To mobilise resources that will be used to provide direct
economic services of various kinds of members.
5. THE INTERIM STRUCTURE OF REA
Pending the adoption of the association constitution the
