Issued by: North West Communication Service
A Trade Delegation of ten business men from the Manitoba Province in Canada is visiting the North West Province from Monday 3 March, for a week. Their visit is as a direct result of a signed agreement between Mr Popo Molefe, Premier of the North West Province and Mr Filmon, Premier of the Manitoba Province. The delegation will explore possible joint ventures and partnerships between business communities of the two provinces.
"Manitoba has a very successful manufacturing sector and has the expertise in processing their agricultural products. As a province we can benefit from their agricultural knowledge and technology. There are lots of similarities between the two provinces and both are landlocked in the middle of the country.", said Mr Jan de Waal, Director of Corporate Services at the Department of the Premier. The businessmen will visit all five regions. They will meet business communities, town councils, traditional leaders and people from the agricultural sector.
RI would like to encourage the local business community to use this opportunity to start building a relationship with Manitoba businesses. An aim of this economic cooperation is to develop small, medium and emerging enterprises (SMME's) through partnership. This will lead to the creation of job opportunities and contribute to the economic growth of our province. The NW business community can also look at export opportunities in Canada,S Mr Molefe said. Business people interested in participating in this agreement with the Trade Delegation should contact their local Chamber of Commerce or contact Mr Jan de Waal on (0140) 873100.
