PRESS STATEMENT: THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS' VISIT TO THE KWAZULU-NATAL PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Alfred Nzo, on 12 February 1997 met with Dr Frank Mdlalose, the Premier of KwaZulu Natal and his Cabinet in Ulundi. The purpose of the meeting was to establish closer relations between the Department of Foreign Affairs and the KwaZulu Natal authorities in the fields of international relations and in pursuit of co-operative governance. Minister Nzo explained the mechanisms in his Department that were established in order to assist the Provinces in their international relations. It was decided that the Directorate: Provincial Liaison in the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the Director General of the KwaZulu Natal Administration will act as the respective focal points to further co-ordinate activities of an international nature.
This visit was part of the Minister and Department of Foreign Affair's ongoing process of consultations with the respective Provinces.
