NWDC APPOINTS NEW CEO

Mr Moses Sindane has been appointed managing director of the North West Development Corporation Ltd (NWDC) on the retirement of Mr J A J Maree.

Moses Sindane, who joined the Corporation as deputy managing director in February last year, has driven the relatively smooth transition of the organisational restructure which is still in process. He successfully negotiated various agreements with parties affected by the restructure which will make NWDC more responsive to today's changing needs.

The appointment, effective from January 1 1996, was announced by NWDC chairman, Khehla Mthembu who is confident the contributions of the new MD will strengthen the Corporation. It is the latest in a series of top appointments in the organisation begun in April 1996 with a newly constituted board of directors.

Khehla Mthembu expressed appreciation of the contribution by Johan Maree during the transformation. Mr Maree will continue his association with the Corporation, working on special assignments.

Mr Moses Sindane, who is a Chartered Accountant, has a BCom from the University of the North and B Compt (Hons) and CA (SA) from UNISA. He joined the NWDC as deputy managing director from the Office of the Auditor General where he held the position of Corporate Executive Manager and Assistant General. He recently obtained an MBA from Henley/Brunel, London.

He has had a distinguished career in the private sector which included holding a position of accountant with a German multinational company, senior executive positions with two major banking institutions and a development institution.

He is a founder member of the Association for the Advancement of Black Accountants in South Africa and past national vice-president of the organisation. He serves on committees of the accounting profession, business movements and community organisations.
