SUCCESSFUL FIRMS INCLUDED IN THE PILOT ROSTER: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS (NATIONAL):
A further 105 firms have qualified for inclusion in the pilot roster. This is a system of channelling government contracts to previously marginalised professionals and those professional firms who meet criteria for the upliftment and advancement of previously disadvantaged professionals, technicians and or communities.
On the second round of applications, a total number of 264 applications were received, of which 32 architectural firms, 55 engineering firms and 18 quantity surveying firms qualified for inclusion on the pilot roster.
In future only new firms will be considered for admission.
Existing firms and firms have been considered before and who can demonstrate changes in their firms in line with the pilot roster's objectives can include such actions in the applications for the further development of the roster system due in 12 months time.
The Department reserves the right to remove firms from the roster if discovered later that fraudulent of misleading information was provided to it in the process or application, if a firm(s) proves to be completely incompetent or if a firm(s) declines to be appointed for reasons other than was stated as acceptable in the policy document on the subject. On a similar basis the Department reserves the discretion to add a firm(s) to the roster if in its opinion circumstances warrant a reinvestigation into the particulars that caused a firm(s) not to have been considered for inclusion on the roster.
