INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DISABLED PERSONS - 3 DECEMBER 1996
The International Day of Disabled Persons will be celebrated on 3 December.
The theme for this year's International Day, "With equal opportunities we can allevate poverty" aims at acknowledging their abilities by creating equal employment, educational and other opportunities for disabled people to alleviate their burden of poverty. 3 December should highlight the commitment needed from the public to create a society for all.
As the media plays an important role to communicate these messages, it will be appreciated if you would consider detailed interviews with officials from the Department of Welfare for feature articles or special radio/TV programmes.
This office can also be contacted to arrange personal interviews with persons with disabilities themselves.
Your support will be appreciated.
