ANC ACCOUNTANT ARRESTED FOR FRAUD

Warrants for the arrest of Mr J.P. (Hannes) Broodryk, and for the search of his house have been implemented by members of the South African Police Service (Commercial Branch) at Klerksdorp. This follows an internal investigation by the AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS of the North West Province and the South African Police Service (Commercial Branch) of Klerksdorp.

Mr Broodryk is alleged to have defrauded the African National Congress of the North West Province of hundreds of thousands of rand - including local government election money, during his employment as the Provincial Accountant/Bookkeeper of the ANC.

Its is alleged he used ANC funds to buy motor vehicles, shares and other goodsfor himself in addition to various other charges.

Mr Broodryk, before his official suspension, alleged he was attacked on his way from Mmabatho to Klerksdorp near Hartbeesfontein and all the ANC of the North West Province's financial books and supporting documentation were taken by the attackers.

This allegation is devoid of all truth as the ANC of the North West Province and the South African Police Service (Commercial Branch) Klerksdorp are in possession of statements no such attack took place.
