NORTH WEST TO LAUNCH PROGRAMME FOR WOMEN

Issued by: North West Communication Service

The North West Department of Health, Social Welfare and Public Media is launching a flagship programme for unemployed women with children under five years of age.

The launch tales place at Mathateng (a village about 100km from Mmabatho) on October 17. Mathateng is a village where people live under impoverished conditions with no water or lights.

Speakers at the launch include President Nelson Mandela, the Minister for Health Dr Nkosazana Zuma, North West Premier Popo Molefe. NW MEC for Health Dr Paul Sefularo will be master of ceremonies for the day.

As the roads in the area are in bad condition, the Department has arranged for transport, from the Department's offices in Mmabatho. Projects planned for the programme include gardening, sewing, farming and a candle factory.
