At 18h00 the President will attend the inauguration ceremony of Dr M Ramphele at the University of Cape Town.

At 08h30 President Mandela meets US Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, at his official residence, Genadendal in Cape Town. PHOTO-OPPORTUNITY. (Only media with valid press cards will be permitted entry into Genadendal.)
Immediately after this meeting the President will leave for Qunu, Transkei where he will be on vacation for a few days.
Sunday, 13 October 1996:
President Mandela continues his vacation at his home in Qunu, Transkei.
Monday, 14 October 1996:
The President will be on vacation in Qunu, Transkei.
Tuesday, 15 October 1996:
President Mandela continues his vacation in Qunu, Transkei.
Wednesday, 16 October 1996:
The President will spend the day at Tuynhuys, Cape Town and fly to Pretoria later in the afternoon.
Thursday, 17 October 1996:
President Mandela will attend the Machel Commemoration in Mbuzini in Mpumalanga.
