The Public Accounts Committee will conduct a series of investigative hearings next week, arising from reports on the provincial and Local Government, referred to the Gauteng Legislature by the Provincial Auditor General.
Officials and other office bearers currently in office, as well as from previous dispensations, will appear before the committee. They will be required to explain and testify on aspects relating to financial and general management of public administration in Gauteng, which are raised in the Auditor General's report.
Commenting about the hearings, Committee Chairperson and Member of the Provincial Legislature, Mr Johan Killian, said "the Public Accounts Committee has a constitutional duty to oversee and assure accountable financial management in both Provincial and Local Government administration in the province of Gauteng. These hearings form an integral part of the process, which will culminate in appropriate recommendations and actions to protect the integrity of administration. Our investigations are not only aimed at negligent management or possible corruption, but also to ensure that public funds are managed and applied effectively to provide appropriate value for taxpayers' money".

The hearings are open to the public, and will begin at 09H00 in the Auditorium on the first floor on Monday 14 October, Tuesday 15 October, Thursday 17 October, and Friday 18 October, respectively. Seating will be reserved for Journalists in the Media Gallery on the first floor.
