ADVISORY NOTICE
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission has received inquiries today asking whether any subpoenas have been served following our news conference yesterday. Your attention is drawn to our statement yesterday, which said, explicitly and deliberately, that the Commission would begin the process of issuing subpoenas today.
The Commission's response to today's queries is contained in the following statement by Dr Alex Boraine, Vice-Chairperson of the Commission:
The running of the subpoena process is now in the hands of the Commission's Investigative Unit. No announcement will be made about any person who is being subpoenaed until such time as the subpoena has been served. We are not prepared to enter into speculation about the order and timing of the service of subpoenas, or the detailed operations of our investigators.
Announcements that subpoenas have been served will be issued by the Commission's Media Liaison office, simsting mechanisms.
