Permanent Appointments to the Eastern Cape
The Judicial Service Commission invites nominations to fill vacancies on the Supreme Court Bench in the Following Division:
(I) Eastern Cape Division -- There are two vacancies in this division.
Nominations must be accompanied by the nominee's written consent and the standard questionnaire completed by the nominee. I wish to emphasize three points:
1. Interviews with short listed candidates will be conducted in public in the same manner as court proceedings, i.e. members of the public and the media will be entitled to be present, but radio and television recordings of the interviews will not be permitted.
2. It is open to persons or bodies nominating candidates to motivate their nominations by referred the Commission to the candidate's qualifications and general fitness for appointment.
3. Nominations must be addressed to and reach the Secretary of the Commission not later than 14 October 1996.
The meeting of the Judicial Service Commission and the interviewing of candidates has been scheduled for the period 9 - 11 December 1996 and will take place in Cape Town.
